All United Truck Driving School programs emphasize professional driving. This means UTDS graduates learn not only driving skills but also driver and equipment safety. Our classes are conducted in either English or Spanish. Several of our programs are offered full and part-time. Class A/P CDL • Hands-on truck and bus driving skills • 5 weeks/186 hours • Endorsements included: Doubles/Triples, Tank Vehicles, Passenger and Hazardous materials training The Class A-P CDL program combines our Class A and Class B programs into a 5-week course. The program covers general knowledge, combinations, endorsements listed above, pre-trip inspection, air brakes and log books. Practical skills governing sliding fifth-wheels and tandems as well as uncoupling and coupling (drop and hook) are taught. Also included are truck and trailer maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. The hands-on portion of the program covers basic control skills (alley docking, parallel parking and straight line backing) in addition to general driving. The graduating student will have completed training driving both big rigs and passenger buses. Class A CDL • Hands-on truck driving skills • 4 weeks full-time, 8 weeks part-time /160 hour • Endorsements included: Doubles/ Triples, Tank Vehicles and Hazardous materials training Our most popular program is offered every two weeks, year-round for both English and Spanish speakers. The course is evenly split between the classroom and in-truck training. The program covers all the areas discussed above for the Class A/P program except bus driving and the passenger endorsement. Class B/P CDL • Hands-on B truck and bus driving skills • 3 weeks /120 hour • Endorsements included: Passenger, Tank Vehicles and Hazardous materials training Designed for the student who is interested in bus driving or Class B trucks. This program provides the necessary training for operating commercial vehicles in excess of 13 tons, gross vehicle weight. This includes cement mixers, dump trucks and large delivery trucks with trailers less than 5 tons vehicle weight. The program covers general knowledge, the endorsements listed above, pre-trip inspection and air brakes. Also included are equipment maintenance, troubleshooting and repair. The hands-on portion of training includes basic control and maneuverability skills as well as general driving proficiency. |
