1. Are there many women truck drivers?

Statistically, women comprise approximately 15-20% of the truck-driving workforce. United Truck Driving attendance figures reflect this percentage.

2. What if I fail the written or driving tests?

United Truck Driving takes pride in our ability to prepare students to succeed in all testing, be it a written test or a driving test. We realize that some individuals benefit from extra tutoring and/or training. If the student has made a commitment to the program we will in turn make a commitment to that student.

3. Do you guarantee that I will get a job after I graduate?

We cannot do that (and beware of any school that states otherwise). But we will guarantee that we will do everything possible to help you find a job. We pride ourselves on our placement assistance and our high placement rate.

4. My English is pretty good, but I think I would feel more comfortable learning in Spanish (or vice versa). What do you recommend?

Since all our full time classes are taught in either language, it is largely up to the student to decide. In areas like the Southwest, the ability to conduct business in both languages is an asset. If you feel that your English is pretty good, we would recommend taking the course in English.

5. Does your school offer financial aid?

Though we do not have financial aid, our school is nationally accredited, as well as licensed and recognized as an Eligible Training Provider by the state of California. That means qualified individuals may receive aid from third party agencies to attend our school. These agencies include the Veterans Administration and the Employment Development Department of the state of California. Interested prospective students are encouraged to visit these agencies either in-person or on-line to determine if they qualify.

6. I called another school in the area and they said that your trucks have semiautomatic transmissions that no one uses locally. Is this true?

Several schools will resort to deceptive if not fraudulent claims in an effort to drum up business. United Truck Driving believes all prospective student’s should first visit competing schools before making a decision on which to attend. We stand behind our record and don’t engage in deception. In the case cited, the school in question is showing ignorance. All of our training is with trucks and buses that have manual transmissions.
