2) Endorsements are: Hazardous materials Fifteen questions (no more than 3 errors) concerning hazardous materials transportation rules. Note: A) You must be 21 years of age to obtain this endorsement; B) This test is administered in English only. Doubles/Triples Fifteen questions (no more than 3 errors) covering multi-trailer safety, coupling, uncoupling, inspection and brakes. Tankers Twenty questions (no more than 4 errors) about tank vehicle, safety, inspection and the physical properties of transporting liquids Passenger Twenty questions (no more than 4 errors) concerning passenger vehicle inspections, loading and unloading, safety and passenger management. 3) The pre-trip inspection involves a verbal demonstration that the vehicle is safe to drive by walking around the vehicle accompanied by a DMV examiner, pointing out each item and explaining why it is important and what you are looking for (ie., pointing to the coolant reservoir determine by checking the coolant level is within limits by inspecting through the sight glass). The air brake check is also performed verbally in the presence of a DMV examiner. The examiner determines whether the proper procedure for inspecting the air brakes is being followed (compressor cut-in and cut-out, air pressure drop and low air warning device activation). 4) Maneuverability skills include straight-line backing, parallel parking, measured right turn, alley dock and measured stop. General road skills include turns, intersections, urban/rural/freeway driving, stopping and starting, curves, upgrades, downgrades, railroad crossings and awareness of signage. |
